The ingredients needed to cook Beef Stew:
  1. Take (2.5 Lbs) Chuck Roast
  2. Provide (2) Cups of beef broth
  3. Take (6) Tbsp of Olive Oil
  4. Get (3) Tbsp of Butter
  5. Prepare (3/4) Cup of Flour
  6. Use to taste Salt and Pepper
  7. Use (2) Tbsp of Balsamic Vinegar
  8. Get (1) Onion, diced
  9. Use (1) Large can diced tomatoes
  10. Take (5) Potatoes, diced. Skin on
  11. Prepare (5) Carrots, skinned and cut into 2 inch pieces
  12. Use (4) Cups of water. (Approximately)
Instructions to make Beef Stew:
  1. Dice Chuck Roast into 1inch pieces.
  2. Put flour, salt and pepper into a large bowl. Add diced Chuck Roast. Mix/coat well.
  3. In a cast iron pan, heat Olive Oil, butter. Fry the flour coated Chuck Roast until dark brown, in batches as not to over fill pan. Add in Balsamic Vinegar to first batch.
  4. In a large pot, add the beef broth and diced tomatoes.
  5. Dice potatoes, carrots and Onion.
  6. Add all of the fried Chuck to pot. Add the remaining juices from cast iron pan to pot. Add the water.
  7. Add all the vegetables to pot. At this point make sure there is enough water in pot to cover everything well.
  8. Cover and simmer on very Low for 4-5 hour's. Checking every few hours on the liquid. Add some water when or if you need to.
  9. Enjoy with some cornbread or bread and butter.
